A project for a resale boutique by RINKAN—an apparel brand dealing in a range of street and high-brand vintage clothing—opening within a large commercial complex in Nagoya.

For RINKAN, resale is at once the brand's foundation, an act of collecting, and an act of preservation. Rather than treating clothing as something disposable, the brand has built its identity by regarding each piece as holding a value akin to a work of art—an artifact that captures its era. Bringing a piece to resale is understood here as a cultural act: preserving the work and passing it on to the next generation. We sought to give form to a place worthy of receiving these works.

Moving away from conventional retail conventions such as the "counter" or the "bench," every element composing the store is treated as an abstract volume. As a vessel that receives clothing as art pieces, the space itself is composed like a single work of art.

The intention is for this place to become a work of art in its own right within the commercial complex, elevating the value of its surroundings. By reinterpreting resale—an act that often carries a negative impression—as something positive, and giving it form as space, we have created a place that extends RINKAN's brand philosophy and resonates with the rising value and standing of the facility itself.
